An unflavored Simple Syrup is easy to make and so useful for sweetening any iced drink, Miss Party often keeps a glass jar of unflavored Simple Syrup in the refrigerator through spring and summer, waiting for the next pitcher of lemonade or iced tea. Think of it as liquid sugar. Use it to sweeten a pitcher or glass of homemade lemonade, iced tea or iced coffee and it is called for in many cocktail recipes (perfect for Mojitos).
Add a little Lemon-Lime Simple Syrup in a glass of seltzer or soda water to your taste, and you have a refreshing homemade soda!
1 cup water

Lemon and lime rinds (add if you are making Lemon-Lime Simple Syrup)
1) Dissolve sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
2) Bring mixture to a boil, add lemon and lime rinds. Cook, stirring constantly until sugar is fully dissolved and translucent; around 30 seconds. Remove rinds and discard them.
3) Cool completely before using or storing. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups of syrup.
