This is a continuation of “Paper Lace” Inspiration, Part 1. Choose a pretty, solid tablecloth that will set off the lace doilies to their best advantage. Miss Party chose several shades of pink. Use 14 in. round or 10×14 in. rectangular lace doilies as placemats, as you see below.
Use small doily-inspired stickers to embellish multiple, clear glasses full of fresh garden herbs or country flowers for simple, natural arranged centerpieces running down the table to keep the table from getting too fussy and old-fashioned. Make a ‘Paper Lace’ Floral Picks for each ‘bouquet’ of herbs or flowers.
For your table settings Miss Party suggests you get a range of doily sizes from 14 in. to 4 in. so you have plenty to work with. Be sure to add any additional doilies you need if you wish to do any of the DIY projects.
For a beautifully themed “Paper Lace” cake, make lots of “Paper Lace” Flower Cake/Food Picks. Cascade them from the center of the cake, and over the edge of the cake to meet up with the large doily the cake rests on. A delicate alternative to icing or real flowers! Or make the lace flower and remove the balance of the toothpick to use for table decor. They’re loverly!
For a beautiful backdrop to a one-sided food table, hang an inspiration fabric from ceiling to floor, then swag a white tissue paper pom-pom garland or attach multiple white Triple-Layered, Ruffled, Fringed Garlands (wiring the garlands is not necessary) from ceiling to floor in front of the fabric hanging. You might want to hang one GORGEOUS 15 inch “Paper Lace” Ruffled, Glittered Party Decor Hanging (see tutorial) in the center of the backdrop for the ‘piece de resistance’! (See the lace hanging in the first picture of this post.)
Also, use the same “Paper Lace” flower idea with just one or two 4 inch doily layers and add a large, pre-made, paper flower embellishment to the center so that the ruffled lace border almost becomes a frame for the flower as it would for a miniature posy bouquet. (See the picture at the top of this post.) You could even tie a thin ribbon with streamers to the ‘pinch’ of the doily to further mimic a small bouquet. Gorgeous paper flower embellishments are readily available in good craft stores’ scrapbooking aisles. These would make pretty favors at each table setting. You might even attach a small tag with your guest’s name to stand in for a place card.
Enjoy all the lacey loveliness!
