“Teetering Teacups” Centerpiece #3

Planing a whimsical tea party? Here is another variation of what you might do with odd, unrelated decorative objects (that you don’t want to keep in the future). Turn them into ‘found art’ sculptures that looks perfectly at home on your whimsical or ‘Mad Tea Party’ dining or buffet tables.

Get out your Mad Hatter’s creative hat and look for unusual decorative objects, candlesticks, small plates and other items you can turn into interesting centerpieces by adding to them or embellishing them. Start collecting old china teacups, teapots, and other decorative ‘Alice in Wonderland’, Victorian, tea-related and miniature objects in earnest! The ‘Teetering Teacups’ centerpiece in the above pics uses a cute, decorative “Home Sweet Home” plate and a Christmas candlestick from a clearance aisle. You’re seeing pictures of all sides of the piece. Since the centerpiece will be viewed from all sides, you want to be sure it is interesting from all angles.

For more specific instructions on how to make a ‘Found Art’ or ‘Found Object’ sculpture, see ‘DIY ‘Teetering Teacups’ Centerpiece’. How your piece looks in the end will, of course, be quite different than Miss Party’s versions since your working materials are different.

Some additional items Miss Party added to this particular centerpiece are:

Fresh button mushrooms (add day of event)
Dried moss
Decorative hearts
Glittered dragonfly ornament
2 inch black satin ribbon
Paper flower and newsprint leaf embellishments
Fabric scrapbooking embellishments
Victorian key scrapbooking embellishment
Paper Mache newsprint mushrooms and bird
Bird’s nest (real nest Miss Party found last spring)
Shells
