This post is purely for entertaining inspiration of what might be and a look at an uncommonly beautiful side of Spain! The private dinner Miss Party attended was held at El Cigarral de las Mercedes, a gorgeous estate converted into a boutique inn and spa. Cigarral is located in the picturesque, Spanish countryside overlooking the ancient, walled city of Toledo. The homes were originally built during the Renaissance period as a summer retreat for wealthy citizens of Toledo who looked to escape the heat of the city but be close enough to still invite friends out to visit.

The magical evening began with a reception serving Cava, Spain’s sparkling wine (which is most similar to French Champagne), local white and red wines and passed hors d’oeuvres in the lower fountain garden. Guests mingled and snapped photos non-stop to capture every minute of the beautiful views of Toledo in the distance. As guests were serenaded with lovely Spanish music by a talented duet playing a variety of classical acoustic guitars and traditional instruments, gradually, the landscape became blanketed by dusk.

Guests were, then, invited to be seated at a beautifully set ‘al aire libre‘ dining table on the upper terrace and were treated to a delicious gourmet dinner and awards program. The food was amazing thanks to the creative and talented Head Chef, Javier Medino Chico. Each course was delicious. The inn’s staff did a wonderful job of quietly attending to guests and letting the natural surroundings and views be the highlights of the evening.

As the evening slowly progressed, dessert was served and the sky turned from orange to deep, indigo blue. Dozens of candles, lanterns and the table candelabras were lit and the cathedral and city of Toledo became illuminated in the distance…it was positively dreamy!

It was a rare and perfectly perfect moment for those lucky enough to be captured in those lovely Cava bubbles. Miss Party is thankful she was one of those lucky people.
