Do you have a Guest of Honor who seems to LIVE in his or her denim blue jeans? Most Americans would put their jeans on a “Can’t Live Without” wardrobe list. Use the ever-so-humble denim blue jeans to inspire your next party – they’re absolutely timeless!
You’ll stop your guests in their tracks when they realize what you’ve done with something they use everyday! Denim blue jeans are a wardrobe staple and an enduring part of American culture. They’re popularity in other countries is steadily growing, as well. Get your creative ideas flowing thinking of all the ways you could incorporate denim into your party decor, just adjust HOW you treat the denim according to the style of your party – from down-to-earth to modern.
Here are a few suggestions of how and where to use denim in party decor:
-Use denim in various shades, adding touches of the fabric anywhere you can, in unexpected places and unusual ways
-Bring denim into a retro 60s bohemian themed party, a vintage-styled party or Americana/Tex-Mex Summer Party
-Do a beachy-casual, summer party using lots of denim details
-Dress up that tomboy jean fabric with heels and a sparkly top with a dazzling “Denim and Diamonds!” or “Blue Jeans and Pearls!” party
-Denim is a natural, no-fuss choice for a rough and tumble boy’s party themes; cowboy, construction, outdoors-related, etc.
-Use denim as your neutral to complement other colors for a teen’s birthday or graduation party. They’d love the ‘upcycling’ aspect, and get a kick out of the creative use of their oldies. (Be sure that holey oldie isn’t still in their rotation…sometimes it’s pretty tough to tell!)
-Artfully arrange handmade denim flowers on ‘vines’ of seaming from a pair of old jeans to make a beautiful table runner. (See pic above.)
-Add bands, strips of denim or seams from jeans to vases or containers, or anywhere you might use traditional ribbon.
-Think of how you might incorporate denim into your invitation by photocopying the denim onto paper or using the actual fabric if mailing out paper invites.
-Line clean denim in baskets or trays for food or other items.
-Embellish or decorate denim if doing a 60s themed party.

SO COOL!!!! I saw this idea at Anthropologie and loved it, so it’s great to know that you don’t have to be a pro designer to get the same effect!
Miss Party Smarty did catch this idea in their spring windows while breezing by one day, and was immediately possessed with replicating and expanding the use of the fabric flowers! Yes, they are easy to make too!
